Construction Notice on Central Avenue over Tinley Creek Bridge

The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways has announced a bridge rehabilitation project on Central Avenue over Tinley Creek in the Village of Crestwood.

Construction is expected to take place from Spring 2026 through Fall 2026.

What Residents Should Expect:

The project will include work to rehabilitate and preserve the bridge, including bolt replacement in the parapet railing, graffiti cleaning, and sealing of substructure units.

During construction:

*Sidewalk closures are expected in the work area
*Motorists should expect delays and traffic restrictions
*The project is expected to maintain at least one lane of traffic in each direction throughout the duration of the work
*Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the area and seek alternate routes when appropriate

The project is intended to provide bridge rehabilitation and preservation, while helping to prolong the bridge's serviceability and improve rideability.

Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and allow additional travel time when traveling through the area during construction.
