Start a Crestwood Business

Here is information on the proper procedure for opening a business in Crestwood:

  1. Provide a detailed, typed-out business plan of what the business entails, hours of operation, how many employees, etc.
  2. Submit the proposed business plan to the Village Service Director for approval.
  3. Once approved, either a Special Use Application or a Business Application will be supplied along with the other necessary documents to be submitted.
  4. This process could take anywhere from two weeks to longer depending on the type of business itself, among other factors.
  5. The Business Licenses are on an annual renewal, running from January to the end of December.

For a more streamlined, problem-free process, contact the Mayor's Office at (708) 371-4800 as early as possible in the process of establishing your new Crestwood Business. They can help you understand the rules, regulations, zoning, and permitting issues that can be a part of starting a business. As mentioned above, one of the initial steps in the process will be to set up a time to meet with our Village Service Director. At this meeting, you will need to bring in a copy of your business plan to go over with our Service Director.

You should also visit the Building & Zoning Department page to download applicable permits and applications.
